2/2: Finally a post on the day of creation

So after staring at Si Scott’s work today, I just had to try his style. I told my friend I wanted to take it apart like a clock just to see how it works, and then put it back together. His work is ornate in an art nouveau way: little to no blank space and romantic smooth curves. So I gave it a whirl and this was the result. I’ll probably use the scan in photoshop to refine later, but it’s a strong start.

I had no access to my drawing yesterday or a scanner. So Michael was wonderful enough to scan and email this to me. It’s a napkin note from Michael’s lunch. I know it is ridiculous, but it made me laugh so hard after it was finished.

The Weekend 1/30 and 1/31

So, I stuck with my determination to be creative this weekend for sure, but was so busy, didn’t have a lot of one on one time with my computer. so the post is late, but the mission was accomplished.

I took this picture of our friend’s son at a 2nd birthday party on Saturday, and found it way too adorable.

And then this picture Michael and I did together. We’ve been playing with long exposure. This was accomplished over the course of thirty seconds in a very dark room. Michael spelled out “Whiskerino” (the name of the beard competition he’s a part of) on cue cards, and then held them up letter by letter. I would then flash an LED flashlight we have over each letter. It took a dozen tries over the course of two days.

Personal Business Card

So, I really want to win some free dinners at restaurant raffles. To do so I need a business card. So I developed my own logo. The cards will be printed on un-glossed, fully recycled paper.

The postmark concept is stemmed from my love of letter-writing.

This was one of my favorite stories when I was younger.

“Winkin’, Blinkin’, and Nod, one night sailed off in a wooden shoe;
Sailed off on a river of crystal light into a sea of dew.
“Where are you going and what do you wish?” the old moon asked the three.
“We’ve come to fish for the herring fish that live in this beautiful sea.
Nets of silver and gold have we,” said Winkin’, Blinkin’, and Nod.”
